Our Mission
To restore hope and provide opportunity for pupils to become all that God intends them to be; partner with some groups to put Christian faith into action through service to the community. Our mission focus is serving the most vulnerable children and families in Zimbabwe. We serve people of all races, ethnicities, creeds, gender and orientation.
Our Vision
Gateway Primary School Outreach program is dedicated to putting our mission into action by providing a full range of charitable, human service, educational and Bible based development activities. These activities help people realize their God-given potential as uniquely gifted individuals in their family, community and relationship with God through Jesus Christ.
Gateway finds great joy participating in the Community. Our Outreach Department in the school is actively involved with various events on a regular basis.
Gateway Primary is very grateful for God’s provision and his faithfulness which gives us the opportunity to contribute to our community.
Service
The second face of outreach involves day camps and weekends trips. The purpose of this programme is based on the last value of the school mission which is to encourage our community to reach out in service. The programme has supported children from Ngezi, Gwebi, Crest Breeders primary schools and has recently adopted Tichakunda School. At these schools, the programme provides the pupils and staff with books, food, clothing and school fees.
The major event is the mid-year trip to Gutu where the pupils and staff spend the weekend. The purpose of this trip is to encourage our pupils to interact with people from all different walks of life and to appreciate each other and the need to help one another. When we go out to places like Gutu and Ngezi, children have the opportunity to minister the gospel to their peers through songs and skits. They also have the opportunity to play together and share the Word of God. Children are also involved in the distribution of food to the community.
Pupils are given opportunities to spread the gospel to other people in various places. The Emerald Hill Community Church, located on the school grounds, has an outreach programme for youth in our community. EHCC hosts the RBC distribution office at Gateway Primary which services our community in distributing various RBC materials for outreach. The sports facilities are frequently used for community practices and events.

Harvest Thanksgiving
Harvest Thanksgiving is celebrated in the middle term. It is a time when the school gathers to thank and praise God for his many blessings. It is also a time when we bless others from the abundance God has given us. The children and teachers wear ‘harvest’ colours (red, orange, green, brown etc.) to school and bring a donation of food. Each class chooses a charity which they would like to support. Representatives from those charities are invited to attend an assembly to receive the donations. One of the classes presents a play on the chosen theme.

Iron Sharpens Iron
We facilitate workshops as part of our outreach program. This is organised by Gateway Christian Teachers College. Iron Sharpens Iron takes place at Gateway Primary School. Quite a number of our staff members take part in facilitating workshops. Examples of workshops are as follows: teaching of reading; spelling; creative writing; theme teaching; teaching art; the teacher
Miracle Missions
The outreach programme also supports Miracle Missions in their Christmas outreach programme. The school pupils are asked to bring in toilet roll inners, wrapping paper and cracker fillers such as toys, balloons, sweets etc. from which they make crackers. These are given to Miracle Missions to use at their annual Christmas party for underprivileged children. After our own Christmas parties, excess food is collected and donated to the Christmas party for orphans hosted by Miracle Missions.
Civvies Day
At the end of each term, the children are allowed to wear civvies (i.e. not uniform) to school for which they pay a 'fine' of $2. The money collected goes towards paying school fees for underprivileged children. The teacher in charge of Outreach organises the payment of the fees with the schools concerned. There are sometimes other civvies days for specific charities (Kidzcan Orange Day and Epilepsy Foundation Purple Day) in which the school participates and the money collected goes directly to these charities.
