Parent Toolbox

Being a parent is one of the most fulfilling roles a person can play in life...however, at Gateway Primary we also know being a parent is not easy!  Being equipped is key to raising children.  For this purpose we have made the Parent Toolbox available to share resources.

Gateway Primary host two seminars per term for parents.  This seminar is normally only one hour long from 18:00 - 19:00 hosted in the hall.  Parents are invited to join us with snacks and tea for parents that comes directly from work.   We are delighted to see parents finding these workshop extremely helpful in the process of parenting.  If you wish to share any workshop ideas or topics please e-mail [email protected] so we can register topics to be planned for future seminars.

Gateway wish to inform parents we have various books available for our parents to access at the Library.  Please see Cathy Vosloo our resource coordinator in the library to assist you.

Any parents that wish to share more resources with other parents could make use of the library to host the resources and manage the lending process.

The Resource Centre also serves as Gateway Primary School’s library. We have a wide selection of fiction and non-fiction books for the students to choose from. Our fiction books include some of the very latest popular books from authors Jeff Kinney, James Patterson, David Walliams and Andy Griffiths. In addition to these, recent purchases of all-time favourites have been added to our classics including Charles Dickens, Jane Austen and Robert Louis Stevenson. Exciting additions to our non-fiction section include reference books on the natural world, world records, cricket and encyclopaedias. Lessons have been very interactive with use of the projector to highlight the books being reviewed as well as the authors. A lot of progress has been made with the digitalising of the library system and an electronic system of signing out the books will be unveiled soon.

A warm welcome is extended to our parents to browse through the resources that we have on parenting and various family issues. And its not just the serious stuff, there are a lot of laughs and humour to be had in the “Chicken Soup for The Soul” series of books. Books on family activities for the whole family are also available. The Library is open from 7:10 am for our early birds.

Following Gateway’s accreditation to ASCI, our Resource Centre now has various ASCI books for equip our staff with the necessary skills and knowledge on how to creatively teach from a biblical perspective.
